Diptychs & Triptychs & Kaleidoscopes oh my!

I took the photos for my diptychs and triptychs in downtown and north west Portland. I edited most of the photos with VSCO filters, or just saturated the color of the photo. I used some of the same photos for my diptychs and triptychs but I either changed the filter or placed them differently. I mostly focused on contrast of value and color for my photos.

I also took these kaleidoscope photos in downtown and northwest Portland. I cropped them and adjusted the saturation and temperature to make them more colorful.

Color Wheel

I think the photographer used a warm color scheme to show happiness because this photo is from a Bat Mitzvah and the rest of the photos are of people smiling and the photos are very light and warm. I think she might have put a small vintage looking filter on the photo to make it look more rustic and cozy.

color and grids

For this project I used some old and new photos to create grids. On some grids I cropped the photos and some I used the whole photo. To further edit these photos, I rotated some, and added filters and saturation to create a pattern.

Project 2 Framing & Composition

For this project I took photos focusing on different framing and composition techniques. I took photos around downtown Portland, at my house, and on my weekend trip to Orcas Island, and got some very different looking photos. Some of my photos are of buildings and and features of building, of nature, and of my friend Nicole. One of these nine photos is my contact sheet which includes at least 3 photos of each framing and composition technique, and the other eight photos are the ones that are my best edited photos. The photos I took while at Orcas Island I think are the most aesthetically pleasing, and they have a cool look to them.

Subject 2

For my second subject I chose to photograph different details of my friend Nikki. I took close up shots from different angles of her different features. I used VSCO (visual supply co.) to edit them.

Subject 1

One of my subjects was a pair of fairy houses that my sister and I made when we were younger in an art class. They are called luminaries and there is a lightbulb attached to the inside so that they light up a magic little fairy house.

My Summer

This summer I did what I do every summer, which is to go on a two week trip to New Jersey. Normally I go with just my family but for the past two summers I have taken my best friend Paulina along with me. For the first week we stayed in my family's lake house that we've had since my mom was a kid at Beaver lake, and for the second week we stay at my mom's best friend's beach house in Sea Isle City. I really enjoy this trip every year because my lake house is kind of secluded from the city and there is a lot of nature around it, and the beach house is right in the middle of the city and there are so many fun things to do at each place.
